Ran into this promotion on another forum (no, not Len Horowitz's) and wondered if anyone here knew anything about the book mentioned, or even better the Cornell Univ. study that is mentioned.

RR

Herbal Antiobiotics - Natural Alternatives for Treating Drug-Resistant Bacteria", by Steven Harrod Buhner, Foreword by James A. Duke, Ph.D. 135 pages, $12.95 U.S.

Published by Storey Books, 1999. ISBN #: 1-58017-148-6

According to the book (pg. 66) Cornell Univ. did a study and found that: Garlic, onions, allspice and oregano killed 100% of bacteria. (There are also other spices that killed 95% - 25% of bacteria too.)

I have it on order through my library. I'll let you know after I read it. I've been hearing more and more re: Antibiotic properties of culinary herbs in the past few months.

the study. Duke, who wrote the foreword, has a good reputation. Alliums and oregano have long have the reputation for being antibiotics. But the book is so new I haven't seen it yet.

I do not have the study citation, no. I looked for the book the last time I was at Barnes & Noble to no avail. Had to settle for Level 4: Virus Hunters of the CDC instead. :D
