Hi Folks:
The post about the x-ray using Polaroid film got me thinking. An X-ray is a basic tool for diagnosis. I have been in a clinic in Alaska in the middle of nowhere (Halfway between Anchorage and Fairbanks) and they had a X-ray setup. It would plain old suck to be without that capability, should the S hit the F for any length of time. But it can be bulky and use a lot of consumables to have a real hard-copy x-ray setup.
Perhaps a "C-Arm" type fluoroscope would fit the bill. The portable fluoroscopes seem less bulky than portable x-ray units. You could hook up a VCR or better yet, a laptop to capture the live action video images for review, thus minimizing the exposure to the x-ray radiation. There are no consumable portions of this proscess. X-rays could even be saved to CD disk for comparison later. OK, I guess the disks could count as "consumables." Again, I have just been around them occasionally but they seem like they could be handy for our TEOTWAWKI scenarios.
OK X-ray techs, tell me where I'm wrong!
Stay Safe,
AGreyMan
