The old timers used to use a leaf of Yarrow laid on a wound to numb the pain so it could be cleaned and stitched. They did the same for a toothache. I would warn those of you that are allergic to aspirin that yarrow contains a relative and should therefore be avoided. For the rest of you, give it a try and see for yourself if it works.

White willow is the source of natural aspirin. Check out your herbals to find other uses and techniques for using.

MR, Is Yarrow the same thing used to take the sting out when you get into nettles?

I am not sure if that is the one, but would be worth a try. Just pick some of the fresh leaves and crush them in your hands and rub it on the irritated area. Nettles are often used as a counter irritant for arthritis. I would guess that it brings extra blood to the area and helps produce natural pain killers in the system. Makes sense to me. Nettles also make a good boiling green, but pick them with gloves on.
