Does anyone (hint, hint, GL!) have current, valid info on the use of cinnamon as an aid to controlling blood sugar levels.
RR
RR, the commonly accepted usage is for gastrointestinal complaints i.e. gas, dyspepsia, ulcerative stomach conditions. ABC and Commission E have NO info of its use for blood sugar control i.e. diabetes? It is RAREly used alone, most always in combination with other stuff. James Duke in The Green Pharmacy suggests drinking lots of black tea as it significantly reduces blood sugar levels - as an aside he suggests Insulinade : into a pot of black tea add a pinch or tow of each - bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, and tumeric, steep for 10 minutes, the ice and drink. Garlic also has a significant ability to control blood sugar levels, raw of LIGHTLY cooked in food. Of course, you KNOW weight loss helps that problem lots also.

Thank you for the answer, GL. I had been advised in the past that cinammon was a natural treatment for diabetes but wondered how far it went in reducing the need for insulin, etc.
