My friends,
As we know, (well, most of us) dental pain is among the tippy top of the problems to face in life. Tylenol and codeine are great. And,benzocaine is surely a life saver.
But, what are some of the other wisdom? an abscess can be from an infection.

One survivalist magazine had an article from a fellow who is a dentist. His son cracked a tooth out in the wilds. The only thing he had handy which helped was a wax candle. He broke off a piece, mashed it around in his hand to soften it, and warm it. And pressed it over the top of the cracked tooth. Made things better till he could get the boy to medical care.

And what are the other hints and tips that we should know?

Of course, nothing replaces a competent dentist, and proper medical care. But, once in a while, that isn't available.

Have Xylocaine? Can do a dental block...if abcess is suspected the only real definitive options are incision and drainage of the abcess and/or treatment with the APPROPRIATE antibiotic.

Here's a "teething" remedy from the early 1900s that will work for a lost filling. Knot a cotton or linen handkerchief, soak the knot in bourbon whiskey, and place the knot in the mouth on the tooth or gum. It does work!
