I just picked this up from a friend.
Apparently what happened......shoulder Dystocia during the delievery, OR and Anesthesia were called for stat c-section.
Couldn't reach Anesthesia(don't know why), several medical people responded to assist. Fetal distress.
FP decided to do C-section under local. As with all procedures that are never taught, practiced, or planed for..........it was a cluster. Baby did not make it. Spinal Anesthesia was not considered because no one knew the spinal anesthesia doses. No one thought of Ketamine and intubation.
This story certainly did wake up our department.
