Anybody use LET (lidocaine, Epinephrine, Tetracaine) Topical application to small facial lacerations provides a numbing analgesia for about 20 minutes. Mix with methyl cellulose or on a 2x2 place on wound. Good for 4-5 sutures. My wife use this at her ER....I for got to ask the strength of each additative. Anyone else use this intheir er?
thanks

Works OK. A little better than packing in ice, maybe. I don't use it here, just one more thing to mix up and stock. Especially now that I have a medical grade superglue(Dermabond), I often don't sew small things at all. LET is much cheaper than TAC, and doesn't have the coke problem.

For LET or TAC make sure the wound has no clots, FB, dead tissue, etc., to ensure maximum contact with the tissue. Paint on and hold gentle pressure for 20 minutes.

Blanching of the skin around the wound means adequate anesthesthia. Lasts an hour or so.

Don't get it in the eyes.

This would be a good RX product for folks to ask their doctor for, not only as a good emergency tool, but also as a confidence builder with your doc. Explain that you do a lot of wilderness adventure travel, or third world travel, or whatever. Read and learn about it and wound repair, be able to discuss it intelligently. Ask for a small container and a couple 15 shot skin staplers. It might lead to the doc volunteering a small supply of antibiotics and other meds, and longer term get a relationship going that will be helpful when they see that you don't show up in the ER after having eaten the LET, LOL.
