View Full Version : Sublimed Sulfur USP Powder
Does anyone here on this board know what the uses are for Sublimed Sulfur USP Powder?
Topical pesticide & fungicide - NOT FOR INTERNAL USE!
Good dust on for the ankles to stop chiggers.
Fireworks and related products.
That is so strange that it would be sold in the drug store. So, it has no other medical uses?

Some items like this are holdovers from a more or less bygone era when homeopathics played a greater role in home medical care. While there are many homeopathic remedies few have been widely accepted as beneficial.
Sulfur has also been used in making poultices according to some "recipes." It is possible the pharmacy stocks it as a matter of routine rather than with specific use in mind.
At one time - decades ago now - it would have been the norm to visit the local pharmacy for pest control agents such as mentioned by Resqdoc. Sprinkling sulfur predates the era of repellant sprays, etc. Needless to say nowadays we visit the nearest discount store for Permethrin and other chemical agents.

Interestingly enough, I think sulfur is still the #1 spray on agent in the California fruit & veggie industry.
