ARGH, some peoples children:eek:
Well, ever since I've been going to EMT class (1/3 of the way threw and it's going great) I've been learing more and more about my VFD's set of protocalls and they stink :(
Turns out EMT's on the department are only authorized to act as BEC's and not EMT's. Sure there is not that much difference, but what the hell, they are spending the bucks for us to get EMT certified so they might as well use our skills to the fullest.
One "reason" given is that we also have a ambulance respond with us to all our med calls and they have both a EMT and a Medic on board. Only problem is sometimes they are busy and 5-10 min behind us, when they don't get lost way out in the boonies. (we cover 1,035 square miles and aprox 14,000 people not to mention two major interstates)
I've been told the protocalls are/will be under revision in the near future, but untill/if they change we are only allowed to preform as BEC's.
Rant mode off
