RR,
Are any of the forums here only available to registered members, like on the old board ? I have some interesting material to post - not top secret or anything - Id just prefer it wasnt accessible to a passing google web crawler. Anywhere suitable ??

btw: I have yet to find a search engine that index's this site. probably because no one has submitted the requests for that to happen, and partially because few sites link to us.

you are registered - you should be able to see them. I don't do the registrations, so am not sure what is involved. I think it's just changing your category in one pull-down, but I leave that to RR.

It may be a carry over from the transition - and if you are having problems, there are probably lots of other users that are experiencing the same problem but not being vocal about it. Can anyone else not see these forums?

RR and Flipper - eithor of you know what's up?

btw: they are on the main page, at the bottom, between the off duty forums and the current users online block. I do knowtice that it says: Private forums - limited access for active members. I don't see a membership choice for "active members", so assume it's on a admin menu I don't have access to. Think you need to ask RR for access.

I thought anyone that was registered had access. Maybe not. I do know there's at least one forum I don't have access to, and doesn't show up for me, so I don't know what to tell you.

Okay, I *think* I have things set now. I re-arranged the forum order a while back and that apparently altered the permissions when I created a new forum catagory. I had to manually reset permissions for access and to (apparently) even view the new forum sub-group. IOW go through the member list and alter aceess permissions for each person.

The private forums are offered for the use of active, contributing members. Simply registering does not automatically grant access. Physicians, nurses, PA's, etc may be granted access upon registering if they contact an admin. Otherwise they might get overlooked. They are not open to casual lurkers but any active member may request access.

Non-viewable "hidden" forums may be opened from time to time for special project groups upon request. For instance, an overseas medical project group, or a domestic group for that matter, that has need of a private bulletin board for the duration of a project may request one to be set up for them. Access is limited to Admins and those involved with the project.

Sorry for the oversight, Craig. I haven't found the "do as I am thinking and not what I just clicked" button yet. :D
