In a new formal study, the Atkins diet proved to lower cholesterol numbers & help people lose more weight than the AHA diet. Something that Atkins has been saying for years. I have been on this diet in the past and personally, I liked it. However, my discipline for staying away from the "good" stuff is not very high!

Let's hear it for staying away from the "good stuff." The large cup of coffee sitting here with hazelnut creamer is part of the huh uh list. Ah well, at least 30 of those lbs have stayed gone, the other 20 come and go.

Yes, it does work, very well, and I discerned benefits other than simple weight loss also.

I've been on Atkins off and on over the last few months and man does it work! It's nice to see the supporting info. Thanks for posting it.

I have been on a similar sort of diet change for the past year. I have a bad family hx of heart disease. My cholesterol was 236, LDL 170 and HDL 35 and triglycerides 175. Bad juju. I have went with a diet called "the Protien Power Plan" , sort of a modified Atkins. I lost around 20 pounds and as of last visit here are the new numbers: Cholesterol 205, LDL 130, HDL 53 and triglycerides 53. So, it works to some degree on me anyway. I've been bad over the holidays though. The reps are killing me with all the junk food they send to the OR for Christmas. Arrrgghhh.
